About Rokland

Rokland builds and distributes wireless and IoT hardware used by engineers, emergency responders, outdoor operators, and off-grid communities.

We specialize in Meshtastic mesh networking hardware, LoRa radio systems, sensors, and embedded devices that allow communication where cellular and internet don’t exist.

We are not a corporate bureaucracy — though we've been around 20+ years, we have a startup vibe and are a fast-moving engineering-driven company.

What You’ll Do

You will work on the design of real hardware — not theoretical projects. Your work will become production devices used globally.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design PCBs for LoRa, GPS, sensors, power, and embedded devices

  • Work with ESP32, nRF52, RP2040, and similar microcontrollers

  • Implement RF layout for sub-GHz radios (433/868/915 MHz)

  • Design battery and power circuits (Li-ion, LiFePO4, charging, protection)

  • Create schematics and layouts (KiCad or Altium preferred)

  • Prototype, test, and debug hardware

  • Work with firmware team to support Meshtastic integration

  • Prepare designs for manufacturing (BOM, DFM, assembly files)

  • Interface with overseas manufacturers and revise boards based on feedback

Nice Projects You Might Work On

  • Portable encrypted off-grid radios

  • RF repeater infrastructure

  • Environmental sensor platforms

  • Emergency communication devices

Recommended Experience

  • Some PCB design experience or willingness to learn

  • Understanding of electronics fundamentals

  • Ability to debug hardware with a multimeter

  • Basic soldering and rework skills (training provided)

  • Willingness to learn RF layout best practices

Preferred (but not required)

  • RF design experience

  • LoRa or wireless protocol familiarity

  • KiCad or Altium experience

  • Embedded firmware basics (C/C++)

  • Battery charging & power management

  • Linux / serial debugging

  • 3D printing or enclosure design interest
