New firmware for Alfa R36A and Alfa WiFi Camp Pro 2
IMPORTANT NOTE: Never attempt a firmware update over WiFi connection between your device and the R36A router. You must use an Ethernet cable. If your device does not have an Ethernet port, locate a device that does or purchase a low cost USB-to-Ethernet dongle.
January 2019- If you own an Alfa R36A router (standalone version or the version that ships in the Alfa WiFi Camp Pro 2), we have firmware updates available for each one.
To get the new firmware (v1.15) for the Alfa R36A retail box version, click here.
To get the new firmware (v1.17) for the Alfa R36A that ships inside the Alfa WiFi Camp Pro 2, click here.
Please note the firmware files are not applications, so you cannot open them like you would a normal setup program. Instead, once downloaded, follow these instructions to upload the firmware files inside the R36A interface.
Do you need to update?
Both of the above files have range and performance improvements. If you are happy with your current performance, then you do not need to update. If you have purchased recently (this article was published 1/17/2019), you may already have the latest firmware and do not need to update. From inside your R36A administration area, click the Status tab to the left and check the firmware version at the bottom to see what version you already have.
