Full Hardware & Software Setup Video:
This is a special kit shipping in one retail box featuring all of the above equipment designed to pick up a weak Wi-Fi signal and repeat it as your own personal hotspot. This is ideal for use on boats, RVs and campers, or larger properties. Here's what you get:
ALFA R36A USB Router
This is the successor to the previous model ALFA R36, and it is a special 802.11n router with a USB port allowing you to share the long range Wi-Fi connection of the ALFA Tube-U(N) outdoor USB wireless adapter. Now you can extend a weak Wi-Fi signal to all of your devices such as smartphones, printers, and tablets. R36A features internal hardware upgrades for better overall performance and reliability. It also features a completely redesigned on-page setup interface.
ALFA Tube-UNA outdoor USB Wi-Fi receiver
This component comes with a 8m (26 feet) USB cable that runs to the USB port on the R36A. This is the receiving radio that picks up the distant Wi-Fi signal. It has an N-male antenna connector. It features a 1-watt (1000mW) high power amplifier and is light-weight and easy to mount (it is 4.1 ounces and just over 6.5 inches tall). Simply use the two included mounting ties to fasten it to almost any type of infrastructure. It is fully weatherproof and can handle outdoor temperatures down to freezing.
AOA-2409TF outdoor fiberglass encased 9 dBi omni antenna
This antenna fits right into the Tube-UNA model Wi-Fi receiver and gives excellent reception range with a wider scope of vertical axis coverage as well, useful for pickup up Wi-Fi signals bouncing off obstacles. It is a light-weight outdoor omni-directional antenna priced much lower than comparable products from competing brands. It is 1.5 feet tall.
How it works
Use these three above components together to boost and share a Wi-Fi signal. Simply connect your computer to the R36A via WiFi. Connect the AOA-2409TF antenna to the Tube-U(N) receiver, then connect the Tube-UNA to the USB port on the R36A. Using Wi-Fi scanning software built-into the R36A you can scan for and connect to available wireless networks in your area. Once the R36A has connected to a network, you are prompted to name and password protect your own new local Wi-Fi network, offering any device within a few hundred feet the ability to use the same distant Wi-Fi signal.
There is no specific range because range can vary greatly based on environment and environmental factors like obstacles and interference. We recommend using this in an area where other devices can at least get a weak signal to the desired network, such as one bar. If the environment is such that your devices cannot even see the desired network form the place of intended use, the Camp Pro may not work well there. A rough estimate is 500-1000 feet. This is about 1.5 to 3 football fields. If you are in a very open area, range may go further.
Included in the box:
- ALFA R36A USB router
- 5 dBi RP-SMA antenna (for R36 signal transmit)
- Tube-UNA USB receiver + 8m (26 ft) USB cable
- AOA-2409TF 9 dBi omni antenna (for signal receive)
- 12v power supply for R36 (supports 100-240v, has North America plug, use in Europe requires converter)
- Tube-U(N) needs no power supply, draws power from the R36 via USB cable
- waterproof tape and wire ties for mounting Tube to pole
- R36 car/vehicle power supply adapter

this unit is the greatest thing since sliced bread every this is excluded in the box instructions are easy and not hard to hook up and on top of it all it works great
The equipment works great and came on time. Was easy to set up.
First off, Rockland tech service has been amazing. I initially setup the CP2 hardware very basically until I was sure everything was going to work (just mounted the antenna to my rear ladder and just ran USB cord under door where the door would not smash the cable and just set the router on the counter and hooked it up to a spare 12 volt receptacle). Did all testing in my driveway where my home WiFi was available. I used my laptop and the ethernet cable to setup the router. All went very well. I could sign onto the CP2 and the signal was boosted from one bar on my home WiFi to a solid three bars. Now for the frustrating problem.... CP2 will work fine for a while and then all of a sudden web pages will not download, check the WiFi connection and on my laptop it says "no internet, secured". I then switch to my home WiFi (same signal CP2 uses) and the internet is available. So I know CP2 is getting a WiFi signal. I spoke with CP2 tech support and they sent me a new router. While waiting for new router I permanently mounted the exterior antenna and routed the USB cable inside my camper through the refrg vent and ran 12 volt pwr wire. I set the router up inside a cabinet. The new router arrived, hooked it up and set it up using ethernet cable. All is fine, everything working, good signal and easy connections. Then all of a sudden webpages no longer download using CP2. If I unplug USB from router then plug it back in it will work for a while. I need to call tech support yet again.
Great salesman called me after I placed an order online to let me know I'd unknowingly paired the wrong tube with router.
He made the correction and within 2 days, I had my pkg.
If you can set up a DOT, you'll have no problem configuring.
I share a broadband connection with a neighbor over 500 feet away. Ot literally took 10 minutes to configure. Make sure you set time zone prior to connecting or adding the hotspot.
Long story short, I laid my 17dbi yagi on the table and immediately saw my Gateway in the list with a 68% signal strength. I knew it would only be better once I mounted the antenna outside the next day. Next day achieved 90% along with numerous other available networks. For the purpose of streaming on an AP, this is a phenomenal setup. I only purchased the 2.4g but will soon order another dual band kit.
Great experiance in purchasing this.
Really boosted my signal in various campground well worth the money customer service is great sense instructions are a bit vague
