ALFA WiFi Camp Pro 2 Mini - Wi-Fi repeater kit - R36A + AWUS036NH

This product is unavailable

The ALFA WiFi Camp Pro 2 Mini works just like the full size ALFA WiFi Camp Pro 2, but with smaller pieces designed for indoor use or smaller spaces.

It includes the same R36A USB Wi-Fi router that is in the ALFA WiFi Camp Pro 2, but instead of the larger outdoor USB tube and antenna, it includes an indoor USB receiver and smaller 5 dBi antenna.

It is a perfect way to get a range boost where the original ALFA WiFi Camp Pro 2 may be too big. Use inside RVs near a window if you don't want to mount an outdoor antenna on the outside of the RV. Use on small covered decks at apartment complexes where the HOA rules may prohibit the installation of larger outdoor WiFi antennas. Or take it with you in a laptop travel bag and use in a hotel or on the road.

The ALFA WiFi Camp Pro 2 Mini includes:
-ALFA R36A USB WiFi router + 5 dBi dipole antenna
-ALFA AWUS036NH indoor USB Wi-Fi receiver + 5 dBi dipole antenna
-10 ft USB cable to go between R36A and AWUS036NH
-U-mount holder for AWUS036NH with suction cup and clip attachment
-wall AC power supply
-Ethernet cable

This is a special kit shipping in one retail box that features all of the above equipment designed to pick up a weak Wi-Fi signal and repeat it as your own personal hotspot. This is ideal for use on boats, RVs and campers, or larger properties.

Here's what you get:

ALFA R36A USB router
This is the successor to the previous model ALFA R36, and it is a special 802.11n router with a USB port that allows you to share the long range Wi-Fi connection of the ALFA Tube-U(N) outdoor USB wireless adapter. Now you can extend a weak Wi-Fi signal to all of your devices such as smartphones, printers, and tablets. R36A features internal hardware upgrades for better overall performance and reliability. It also features a completely redesigned on-page setup interface.

ALFA AWUS036NH USB receiver
This component comes with a 10 foot long USB cable that runs to the USB port on the R36A. This is the receiving radio that picks up the distant Wi-Fi signal. It has an RP-SMA male antenna connector. It also comes with a 5 dBi gain dipole antenna.

If desired , the AWUS036NH can also be plugged into the USB port of a compatible Windows 10 computer to extend range just to that PC, but using it with the R36A will allow you to share reception with multiple Wi-Fi enabled devices at once.

How it works
Use all of these components above together to boost and share a Wi-Fi signal. Simply connect your computer to the R36A via ethernet cable or Wi-Fi connection for a one-time configuration and setup. Connect the AWUS036NH to the USB port on the R36A. Using Wi-Fi scanning software built-into the R36A that you will see during the setup wizard, you can scan for and connect to available wireless networks in your area. Once the R36A has connected to a network, you will be prompted to name and password protect your own new local Wi-Fi network, offering any device within a few hundred feet the ability to use the same distant Wi-Fi signal.

There is no specific range that can be computed as range can vary greatly based on environment and environmental factors like obstacles and interference. We recommend using this in an area where other devices can at least get a weak signal to the desired network, such as one bar. If the environment is such that your devices cannot even see the desired network form the place of intended use, the Camp Pro may not work well there.

Great Install

Good install following the directions in the box. I do wish the the receiver and the antenna could be used with the cable after initial set up. Works great to pull in wifi from Tue campgrounds.

Great value, easy, effective

This is a nice kit for a very good price. Delivery was fast. Setup was easy, using just the included Alfa instructions. It's easy to search available networks and switch to the strongest. The system allows you to effectively use weaker WiFi signals than you could otherwise. Of course it can do nothing about the source quality (the RV park's system), but it does allow you to make the best of what you have, due to its higher gain antenna and much higher transmit power compared to your computer's internal WiFi adapter.

I returned it

I don’t know if I just bought the wrong size antennae and should have went with the bigger one, but I could not get usable speeds for my goals with this setup. Even being fairly close to the open capture portal networks, I could not get anything passed 2mbps download speed, and upload was nearly unusable.

Jason’s customer service is freaking excellent.

oh also I'm mainly a vanlifer looking to catch open wifi from a longer distance. Even if the signal strength was great, the speed was considerably slower than if i was parked at mcdonalds. I don't think this is the technologies fault, probably a bandwidth thing? But I thought it would also boost the signal, which meant boost the speed.

love works great in camp ground
