Display Troubleshooting

  • If screen is frozen
    • wait 10 seconds
    • tap the user button once
    • wait another 10 seconds
    • restart device by tapping the recessed reset button once
  • If message screen is still on main screen tiles
    • swipe left or right to message screen
    • initiate message by double tapping
    • keep message blank and tap the send button to cancel

iPhone / iPad - Pairing & Configuration (Cont.)

Step 1:

 Open the Meshtastic App on your iOS device and power on the WisMesh Tap. The node name will appear on the second to last WisMesh Tap screen. On your iOS device simply tap on the available radio that matches.

Step 2:

 Enter the Bluetooth pin that appears on the WisMesh Taps's screen into the Meshtastic App and then tap Pair.

Steps 3-5:

 Tap Set LoRa Region, then select the region the device will be operated in.

Step 6-8:

Then tap Save. *Note - Depending on the region you select, the frequency at which the radio transmits at may change.* The WisMesh Pocket will automatically reboot and repair to your iOS device. 

 


Android Phone / Tablet - Pairing & Configuration (Cont.)

Step 1-2:

 Open the Meshtastic App on your Android device and power on your WisMesh Tap. Then on your Android Device within the Meshtastic App tap the teal plus bubble in the bottom right corner. The node name will appear on the second to last WisMesh Tap screen. On your Android device simply tap on the Bluetooth device that matches. *An Android device a notification may appear, if so Tap "Pair & Connect".

Step 3:

 Enter the Bluetooth pin that appears on the WisMesh Pocket's screen into the Meshtastic App and then tap Pair.

Step 4:

 Next select the region the device will be operated in. *Note - Depending on the region you select, the frequency at which the radio transmits at may change.* The WisMesh Tap will automatically reboot and repair to your Android device.

 

 

Flashing / Updating Meshtastic Firmware

Step 1:

Device firmware is still under development and has not been officially added to the Meshtastic Distro. Firmware is technically still considered bleeding edge.

 Download your choice of WisMesh Tap Firmware HERE:

- Alpha 2.5.12 (Known Bugs: Message will not show on paired device within Meshtastic App, Trace Route not working)

- Beta 2.3.16 (Known Bugs: Doesn't have new security protocol, Disabling GPS disables screen - Instead set GPS to "NOT PRESENT")

*** Note - If you are upgrading from the firmware with the GPS bug, a factory reset will be required after flashing the new firmware.***
*** If you have Meshtastic CLI installed, you can perform a nRF52_factory_erase prior to flashing the new firmware to have the same effect.***

Step 2:

Connect your WisMesh Tap to your computer via USB.

Step 3:

Double tap the recessed reset button using a paperclip or toothpick. This will put the device into bootloader mode.

Step 4:

A drive should appear on your computer labeled RAK4631.

 

Step 5:

Copy and paste (or Drag and drop) the WisMesh Tap .uf2 firmware file onto the RAK4631 drive.

 

An error may occur, if so just close out of the error. (You can repeat the process if necessary)

The WisMesh tap will automatically reboot and load the new firmware.
