2.5 dBi SMA Male 915 MHz soft flexible whip antenna is an omni-directional SMA Male 915 MHz dipole antenna with 2.5 dBi peak gain. The antenna is 7.8 inches tall and and can be completely bent as shown in the photo without internal damage. Suitable applications are as a factory replacement antenna IoT hardware and Mesh networking devices. Flexibility is perfect for handheld radios like LILYGO T-Echo.

Nanometer testing note: Nanometers don't identify the parameters of resistance and capacitance of the soft antenna structure properly. Use of a network anaylzer is recommended for correct VSWR testing.


Test completed using Agilent 8753d network analyzer will show accurate SWR pattern. Using a nanometer is not advisable for soft antennas.

Beware cautious of gain inflation- some places arbitrarily inflate antenna gain numbers to appear better than competing products. Because gain cannot be easily measured by the end-users, we have seen similar antennas marketed aas higher gain. ALFA Network has been making antennas for over 17 years for WiFi, 4G, and other applications. Our 915 MHz antenna are listed with actual specifications. You also do not want extremely high gain as your path will be very narrow and miss other hotspots.

I see similar looking antennas online that say for 600 MHz to 2700 MHz, is a wider frequency spectrum better? 

Antennas with a focused spectrum will have better performance on that band segment vs antennas with very wide spectrum. We would not recommend using antennas that are also WiFi 2.4 GHz compatible with your mining equipment. This antenna has a frequency range of just 900-930 MHz to give you maximum performance.

Bulk/High Value Order Returns

Poor SWR

Measured the SWR with a properly-calibrated NanoVNA and both of these antennas I ordered had an SWR a bit over 2.5:1. That's not horrible, and better than the stock antenna that comes with many Meshtastic-capable devices, but it's not great.

Thank you for your review. We don’t recommend using Nano meters for testing soft antennas, we suggest using a network analyzer instead.
Nanometers won’t identify the parameters of resistance and capacitance of the soft antenna structure correctly. We have tested this model on an Agilent 8753D and found the VSWR under 1.5 but have the published spec as <2.0 due to possible variance.
