Advantages/disadvantages of directional antennas:
A directional antenna such as this one concentrates all of its gain in one direction. This results in better reception and penetration of obstacles in that particular direction. But it also means limited reception to signals coming from other directions since the horizontal path is very small. We recommend this directional antenna for environments where you know the location of the Wi-Fi signal. If you are just looking to pick up available signals in any direction, consider one of our indoor or outdoor omni directional antennas, which have a 360 degree horizontal path.

the antenna really didn't pull in the signal in much more than the omni directional antenna that came with the alpha tube. I was hoping for it to pull in the signal a hole lot more than it does. it may have increased the current signal from 59% to 70 %. I was also hoping that it would have made the signal be more steady, but it did not.
What a directional antenna can do in terms of improving signal depends heavily on environment and how the signal is coming in. A gain of 5 to 15 percentage points is normal for more open areas for antennas of the same gain. An increase of 59% to 70% is not a bad jump. At 70 the signal will generally be more steady. If not, there may be other factors at play like radio interference. We also recommend doing multiple scans with each antenna, as a radio may return both 59% and 70% with the same antenna connected. We recommend doing 5 scans with each antenna and average the number out. For further assistance please reach out to our support team.
I haven’t had it too long, but I got the directional antenna as well as the Omni directional one. This thing is the beast I switch antennas depending on where I’m at and so far I’ve had great wifi data service.
Excellent product with excellent customer service
