Unreliable with meshtastic

So far either the Ethernet works, or the PoE works, but not both at the same time, and not predictable. Also connected to a Ubiquiti switch.

It worked

I saw a lot of complaints about the POE module being really picky about what switches power it. I haven't had any issues with two different Ubiquiti switches.

Tragically bad

I had high hopes for this. The RAK unit with Ethernet *and* Power Over Ethernet? An amazing match for a base station.... if it worked. Unfortunately the unit I have does not work properly. Upon plugging in, the RAK power cycles, and the POE on the switch power cycles itself as well. It's clearly not negotiating POE properly with the switch (Ubiquiti). It works a little better with a LiPo battery attached, but even the battery ends up discharging over time, showing that the POE module is truly not providing the power required.

Spoke with several other members in my local meshtastic community and anyone who used the RAK POE, also had similar complaints.

Thank you for your feedback. There are currently no known issue reports of this item. We will attempt to reproduce the issue on our end to help determine a solution and reach back out to you. Thank you.

RAK19018 (PoE+) and RAK13800 modules = powered node over ethernet

The RAK19018 PoE+ module powers my outdoor rak node over ethernet from my ubiquiti PoE+ switch in concert with the RAK13800 module (required).
I like that no IP address was assigned unless you tell the meshtastic software to enable assignment of an IP address it does the one job I wanted it for: power.
