ALFA Tube-UAC2 is a new long range outdoor 802.11ac dual band Wi-Fi USB adapter/client for Microsoft Windows computers. It is great for marine and RV use. In 2019, the number of RV parks and public networks offering 5 GHz Wi-Fi has increased, and there are advantages of connecting to the less-trafficked 5 GHz band. With ALFA Tube-UAC2, you can get a range boost to both 2.4 and 5 GHz networks. Note that because of FCC power restrictions on dual band radios, our long range single band USB clients like ALFA Tube-U(N) may get stronger signal to 2.4 GHz networks. If you are thinking about upgrading, the Tube-UAC2 offers faster connections to 802.11ac and 5 GHz networks but may have lesser signal to 2.4 GHz networks compared to Tube-U(N).

This is the base retail version of ALFA Tube-UAC2 and it does NOT ship with an antenna. You can use it with a compatible existing dual band antenna, or you can purchase AOA-2458-59-TM (recommended). We also have this special kit which includes ALFA Tube-UAC2 and AOA-2458-59TM. Note the Tube-UAC2 is NOT compatible with the ALFA WiFi Camp Pro 2 antenna. That antenna has a different connector and is also not dual band capable.

R36A support is coming in Q1 2020 but is not here yet. At this time, Tube-UAC2 can only be used directly plugged into the USB port on a Microsoft Windows computer and will boost the range just to that specific PC. However you can use Windows 10 Mobile Hotspot feature to create a hotspot and share your ALFA Tube-UAC2 connection from your PC to nearby devices (requires your PC has a built-in WiFi card also).

The ALFA Tube-UAC2 is light-weight and easy to mount (it is 4.5 ounces and just over 6.5 inches tall). Simply use the two included mounting ties to fasten it to almost any type of infrastructure.

Installation and Compatibility:
Microsoft Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 8.1, 10, Linux. R36A router support coming soon. This includes a DVD-ROM with installation software and manual, or this can be downloaded here.

More Details:

ALFA Tube-UAC2 easily fastens to your boat or RV, or an outdoor pole or post. It has weatherproof casing and it comes with a special shielded 5 meter (16 feet) USB cable that is designed to prevent against power loss. This allows you to mount this item further away from where you will be using your computer. You can connect any type of antenna to this product that has an N-male connector on it (the Tube-UAC2 comes with a N-female connector, which is different from previous generation Tube models). We also sell pigtails and converters if you already own an outdoor antenna with a different connector type.

ALPA Life after lightning

The actual lightning strike was about 100 yards away from my boat, yet it still fried my ALFA UAC2 Tube and R36AH router. It was a big strike to a steel crane, grounded into water. Since no other electronics were affected, I expect my outside ALFA antenna (15 ft away) sucked up some of the energy and sent it down the antenna cable (a favorite entry path for lightning). My other radio antenna systems were protected since they go to the top of the mast--along with a 'please hit me' sign.
I now have a Rokland 'arrestor' on the antenna cable, a new UAC2, and a R36AH. BTW, I don't use the long USB cable--the UAC2 is only inches from the router. All said and done, service is back as good as ever and only $150 or so. My previous lightning strike cost $65K in electronics etc.

Good product really sensitive on both bands. The down side will not work with r36a router.

You can't get any better..! for it's size and price

The ALFA Tube-UAC2 802.11ac Dual Band 2.4/5 GHz and ALFA APA-L2458-08A works very good easy to assemble with several options to mount them..
How ever I am disappointed in the USB cable they give you a USB 2.0 16ft cable which does not perform good with 5G
WARNING -- WARNING -- WARNING...!!!!!! See the cable I used below...
After talking to Jason and several other about using a 20 ft usb cable and all agreed it would most likely loose power... Not that I question them I wanted to test it and see what I might have to do to get it to work... SO.
I bought a 20ft USB 3.0 anyway to test it out plugging it in and into my 3.0 port I went from 2 bars to 5 bars on 5G and the 2.4G was off the chart - I actually moved the antenna Back 20 feet and still had 2.4G signal.. I tested the 5G and still had 5 bars.. I moved my Van back 40 feet and brought the antenna back another 20 feet and I am getting 4 bars
I am hooking up to public wifi that is over 150 yards away through the building's brick wall and several other obstacles
NO - NO I am not using an USB 3.0Active Extension Repeater Cable..
I am using a 100% pure OFC Copper USB 3.0 extension Cable
*** BE AWARE -- BE AWARE ***** WARNING ***** 98% of the usb cables are Aluminum - TIN / Tinned copper STAY AWAY FROM THEM..
Always use 100% copper OFC is the best and Hard to find.. But it is out there

Even when it comes to replacing broken etc.. components..
If your looking for a small high gain 2.4/5G wifi antenna be 3ft to 20 feet away from your computer This set up is the way to go Remember 20ft regular 3.0 USB A male and female cable works great ...
Any more than 20ft I recommend using an ACTIVE REPEATER USB 3.0
Same with USB 2.0 ADVICE on getting the xtra power from the usb wifi to your computer is to use a Power Bank I use Blackweb 20000 AH -- You can use higher and doing so gives you longer run time...
As for Charging the Power Bank I use Solar panel then you don't have to disconnect or run a extension cord out to it - Let the SUN charge it..
Mine last 2-4 days depending how long I am on the computer / internet
Hope this helps you make the right choice
Any questions - concerns etc.. Jason and his team are always ready to help..
