Great value!

The RAK Meshtastic starter kit is a great value for a RAK19007 baseboard, RAK4630 LoRa module, BLE PCB antenna, LoRa PCB antenna and USB-C cable! It was straightforward to flash the latest Meshtastic firmware and get up and running. The RAK hardware has proven much more reliable and higher quality than the ESP32 boards I've tried in the past. The power consumption is 10x lower! Achieving several days of battery life is possible. Highly recommended, the only difficult part is securing such a small board in a protective case.

They can endure

Have four of these, mounted in Plano Tackle Boxes with 2.6dbi external antennas. Have 5v solar panels fixed to top of box. They have performed well and can actually work self-sustained as long as the sun comes out for about 3 to 4 hours a day. Of course, it depends on the Net activity levels and number of nodes to fully prove self- sustainment. They are supposed to be waterproof but yet not proven. seals on box are great, but antenna coax and solar cable point lubricants are not proven. As side point, I bet the CCP can crack the encryption quite easily.
